time to build a beer cellar in the basement?
Here’s a thought-provoking story from New Scientist, about the contributions that humble beer fridges make to global warming. Hmmmm, there’s a cool spot in the basement under the stairs that might make a good location for a beer cellar. Has anyone converted a cellar space for storing beer?

I have a walk-in closed pantry in my basement that I’ve gradually taken over for my beer cellaring experiments. I don’t have any heating/cooling systems installed, but the room manages to stay within a 50-67F temp range throughout the year, which is good enough (if a bit on the warm side).
This issue comes up every now and then on Beer Advocate’s beer cellaring and aging forum, I would suggest anybody looking for info on it start there: http://beeradvocate.com/forum/list/29

And your Brew Basement website has a lot of good information, too - I’ve added a link to it! Thanks, Jason.

This is one of the things I hate about being a homebrewer in Arizona, no basements and extreme difficulties brewing at all for 6 months a year.
